This position functions as the WIC Breastfeeding Coordinator for the Infant Feeding Branch of the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children performing highly advanced consultative work requiring specialized knowledge in the planning, development, and implementation of the breastfeeding activities for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC). Performs administrative oversight of state level breastfeeding programs. Provides expert breastfeeding consultation and technical assistance to local agencies and state agency nutritionists and serves as breastfeeding activity coordinator and content expert to other staff. Provides expert breastfeeding consultation and technical assistance to other programs internal and external to Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and coordinates breastfeeding promotion and support activities with other HHSC programs. Complies with applicable regulations, policies, standards, and guidelines of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Services. May train others. Works under general direction with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
