Tell Congress to Eliminate the Sequester and Fully Fund WIC!

November 21, 2013
Categories: WIC Funding and Operation

The House and Senate Budget Conferees must negotiate a deal by December 13th to put the nation on a sustainable fiscal path. One issue they are currently discussing is the sequester. Last year WIC received a 5.1% sequester cut.

Unless Congress finds an alternative to sequestration through other spending cuts and/or revenue increases, these cuts will remain in place and get progressively worse over the next nine years. Tell Congress to eliminate the sequester and fully fund WIC to meet the public health nutrition needs of mothers and young children in FY2014 and beyond!

How?

1)  Participate in NWA’s National Call-in Day on December 3, 2013.

On Tuesday, December 3rd call the Capitol switchboard using our toll-free number: 1-855-435-7942.

Tell Your Senators and Representative (or the person who answers the phone in the office):

  • Your name and where you are from
  • That the WIC program is a vital part of your community/state
  • To eliminate the sequester and fully fund WIC to meet the public health nutrition needs of mothers and young children in FY2014

2)  Email your Senators and Representative through NWA’s web portal.
