The 2026 NWA Annual Education and Training Conference brought the WIC community from across the country together in Dallas, Texas to learn, connect, and share ideas that support women, infants, children, and families.
From educational sessions and networking opportunities to conversations in the exhibit hall, the conference offered attendees a chance to gain new perspectives and connect with colleagues from across the WIC community. While the conference may be over, the ideas, resources, and connections made in Dallas can continue to make an impact long after returning home.
Three Ways to Keep the Momentum Going
Reflect on Your Takeaways
Every conference experience is different. Whether it was a session, resource, or conversation with a colleague, take a few moments to identify what resonated most with you and what could support your agency's goals.
Try this:
Review your conference notes and highlight your top three takeaways.
Save presentation slides or resources you want to revisit.
Identify one idea that could benefit your agency or participants.>
Turn Inspiration into Action
Returning from a conference with pages of notes and ideas can feel exciting and overwhelming. Instead of trying to do everything at once, focus on one realistic next step.
For example:
Share a helpful resource during your next team meeting.
Start a conversation about a new participant engagement strategy.
Explore a tool or process improvement you learned about.
Set aside time to learn more about a topic that sparked your interest.
Stay Connected
The relationships built during conferences can be just as valuable as the information shared. Staying connected helps strengthen collaboration across the WIC community and keeps the learning going throughout the year.
Ways to stay connected:
Follow up with new contacts on LinkedIn or via e-mail.
Exchange resources with colleagues you met.
Continue conversations about shared challenges and solutions.
Stay engaged through NWA events and networking opportunities, including the NWA Online Community.
Sometimes the most valuable takeaway from a conference isn't found in a presentation, it's found in the relationships built along the way.
Keep Learning With NWA
NWA offers opportunities throughout the year for WIC professionals to continue expanding their knowledge, exploring emerging topics, and connecting with peers.
Join us for NWA's Virtual Technology, Innovation & Vendor Management Conference on September 9–10, 2026, to explore technology solutions, program innovation, and emerging trends shaping the future of WIC.
Then, join us in Atlanta, Georgia, November 16–18, 2026, for NWA's Nutrition Education & Breastfeeding Conference. Centered around the theme Engage, Inspire, Energize – Nourishing Generations, NEBF will bring together nutrition and breastfeeding professionals to share best practices, research, and practical strategies that support participants and families.
