Reporting to the Office Director for the Office of Nutrition Services (ONS), the Deputy Director and Business Operations Section Manger and is a key member of the office leadership team. This position has two (2) major purposes: serving as ONS Deputy Director, and Manager of the Business Operations section. The scope and impact of this position within ONS are equivalent to those of a chief operating officer. This position contributes to the mission of the organization by ensuring that the Director's vision for ONS is successfully implemented, that ONS finances are sound and consistent with standard accounting practices, that critical MIS infrastructure is adequately managed and supported, that assessment and evaluation are conducted in response to the needs of the organization, and the daily operations of ONS are based on clear expectations and in alignment with agency policies.
The Deputy Director and Business Operations Section Manager is responsible for a staff of 4 (current and planned direct reports) and for the annual ONS budget of approximately $171 million.
The Office of Nutrition Services (ONS) is one of four offices within the Division of Prevention and Community Health. ONS provides nutritional services to qualified participants statewide, mainly by supporting and contracting with local agencies for direct services. ONS has four major programs: Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC); WIC Breast Feeding Peer Counseling (BFPC); WIC Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP); and education for participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP-Ed).
