This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by advancing the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities as Chief of the Local Services Branch (LSB), the incumbent leads a team that provides monitoring, training, support for, and collaboration with, regional local agencies serving the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program participants.
The incumbent works under the general direction from the Assistant Division Chief, Services, Staff Services Manager III (SSM III). The SSM III is the LSB Chief who has managerial responsibility for developing, implementing, and monitoring quality nutrition and program standards for the WIC program. In this capacity, the SSM III provides expert knowledge, technical assistance, and oversight to LSB subordinate supervisors in the day-to-day management of the LSB, including operations of 84 local agency contracts; training; nutrition and breastfeeding services; and local support. The SSM III actively participates as a member of the WIC Division management team and Senior Leadership Team. This position may require statewide travel up to 15% of the time.
