This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by advancing the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities. As an employee of the Local Services Branch (LSB), the incumbent serves as part of a team that provides monitoring, training, support for and collaboration internally and externally with local agencies that serve the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program participants.
The incumbent works under the direction of the Chief, Local Support Section, Staff Services Manager II (SSM II). The Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) is a highly skilled technical consultant coordinating communications to WIC local agencies using SharePoint, PowerPoint, Publisher, Word and Excel. The HPS I works with a multi-disciplinary team at WIC to support presentations and events. This position requires the ability to work independently, think clearly, analyze problems, work under pressure, handle changing priorities, establish cooperative working relationships, and demonstrate a high degree of initiative. Statewide travel up to 10% of the time with possible overnight stay(s) to attend on-site regional meetings.
