The position coordinates the collection, dissemination, and coordination of Universal Product Code (UPC) data with the WIC Approved Food List and Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) in NC WIC.  This position monitors local agencies to ensure programmatic and fiscal compliance with federal and state policies.

About the Nutrition Services Branch
As a part of DHHS, the Division of Public Health is made of a several sections servicing the citizens of North Carolina.  The Nutrition Service Branch is a part of the Women and Children’s Health Section within Public Health.  Activities of the Nutrition Services Branch promote sound nutrition habits among infants, children and women in their child-bearing years.  Branch staff work with county, state and private agencies to improve health status by reducing the incidence of nutritional risk factors, improving pregnancy outcomes, and hastening recovery from illness and injury through the provision of technical assistance, education and supplemental foods.

• You must attach or indicate your credential of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics on your application. Failure to do so will disqualify you for consideration.

• Experience in normal and therapeutic nutrition and its relationship with growth, chronic disease, principles and practice of behavior change, nutrition needs across the lifespan with a special focus on women and children.
 
• Experience in programs serving the women of childbearing age and/or infants and children.
 
• Experience in federal nutrition programs such as WIC or Child and Adult Care Food Program.
 
• Knowledge of education/training techniques as applied to adult education and various group process techniques.
 
• Ability to interpret, understand and translate research findings into education information.
 
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in both oral and written form.
 
• Ability to prepare and present educational and training materials to professional and lay groups.  
 
• Ability to solve problems.
 
 Management Preferences 
 
• Master’s degree in nutrition or public health with three years of program administration or supervisory experience.
 
• Experience in the delivery of public health services, especially with the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC).
 
• Ability to analyze, interpret, recommend and implement policy and procedure guidelines.
 
• Mastery of the process and practice of consultation.
 
 Professional Credentials Required 
 
• Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
 
 Physical Requirements 
 
• Position is eligible for teleworking through a hybrid approach of both in office and telework with statewide travel required. Employees may be required to work onsite at the request of the hiring manager.
 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


Master's degree in nutrition or public health nutrition from an appropriately accredited institution and holds the credential of Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD or RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and three years of program administration or supervisory experience;
OR
an equivalent combination of education and experience.
