Job Overview
The Tennessee Department of Health's Division of Family Health and Wellness is hiring a Public Health Program Director 2 for the Supplemental Nutrition Program section. This position will provide statewide leadership in the development, alignment, and implementation of administrative and operational systems that support supplemental nutrition programs. This position places a primary focus on strengthening clerical and administrative functions such as intake processes, categorical eligibility determination, documentation requirements, and certification processes to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and compliance statewide.
While nutrition- specific policy and planning remain key responsibilities, this role functions primarily at a systems, operational, and policy administration level. The Manager advances a cohesive statewide administrative services strategy, oversees monitoring systems, and ensures consistency and integrity in program operations. The position reports to the Nutrition and Breastfeeding Director, who maintains oversight of nutrition and breastfeeding service content and special grant management.
Key Responsibilities
Identify and describe process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and accountability in clerical and administrative functions.
Lead development, updates, and implementation of statewide administrative and operational policies and procedures to include intake, eligibility determination, documentation review, and benefit issuance workflows.
Oversee the statewide program monitoring framework, including monitoring tools, protocols, and performance standards related to administrative accuracy, eligibility documentation, and compliance.
Collaborate with Director of Nutrition and Breastfeeding to analyze monitoring data and identify trends, risks, and opportunities for program improvement.
Supervise assigned staff within the nutrition services team, providing direction, coaching, and performance evaluation.
