Supervision and Management:
Acts as a role model for DHEC’s Core Values. Maintain excellent communication and professionalism with superiors, peers, and subordinates. Responsible for supervision of 4-6 staff members, takes an active role in the hiring process and assuring thorough orientation of new staff. Monitors clinic flow and staff utilization. Work consistently with staff and peers to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Hold regular staff meetings with team and individual staff members. Perform quality assurance activities, program audits, and implementation of corrective action plans, as required by WIC Program and agency policy. Assesses employee performance through direct and indirect observations and completes evaluation tools, per agency policy. Assures accurate and timely completion of staff PCAS, SCEIS, and travel reports. Maintain and monitor customer satisfaction as well as problem solving customer concerns. Conduct outreach activities.
Clinic Nutrition Services: Assessment, Certification, and Breastfeeding Promotion:
Adhere to program requirements and agency standards for WIC Nutrition Service delivery and referrals. Provide WIC certifications and nutrition education per program standards and protocols, including anthropometric measurements, hemoglobin testing, documentation, building of food packages, and referrals to registered dietician, if indicated. Ensures clients receive qualified interpretation and translation services. Promote breastfeeding, provide support and appropriate referrals for breastfeeding participants. Issue and monitor breast pumps and supplies. Complete follow up per guidelines. Attend all required trainings.
MINIMUM AND ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
State Minimum Requirements: Some positions require registration or eligibility for registration by the American Dietetics Association. A bachelor’s degree in nutrition, dietetics or community nutrition and experience in a clinical, public health or institutional setting; or a bachelor’s degree in any field and registration by the American Dietetics Association and experience in a clinical, public health or institutional setting. Some positions require registration with the American Dietetics Association and a valid license from the South Carolina Panel for Dietetics.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
Agency Additional Requirements:
BS or BA degree in Nutrition, Foods and Nutrition, Family and Consumer Sciences, Home Economics, Health Promotion or other approved nutrition or health-related degree.

DRIVING RECORD: If this position requires the applicant to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a state vehicle or personal vehicle, any applicant being considered in the final stages of selection for the position will be required to provide a certified copy of a 10-year driving record.
