Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides and evaluates nutrition needs and services.
Plans and conducts nutrition and food service educational programs for clients, staff and the community. Uses a variety of teaching techniques to reach a wide range of learning styles and students.
Assists in providing nutrition advice to staff of public health and related agencies.
Maintains cooperative relations with physicians, health professionals, civic and community groups and others that are concerned with food and nutrition.
Reports and summarizes activities regularly. Assists with preparation of reports to the appropriate entities.
Conducts assessments and determines nutritional risk.
Through client contact, creates a desire for clients to expand their nutritional knowledge. Collect data on the relationship between dietary factors and health and disease.
Assist clients with individual needs associated with nutrition-related grants.
Promote and assist with the services of the department to clients
Performs data entry as needed
Meet and maintains OSHA standards
If within licensure and properly trained, carries out routine medical procedures for related programs
Qualification and Requirements:
Licensed Registered Nurse or bachelor's degree with a major emphasis in nutrition or foods and nutrition
Valid driver’s license
Bilingual Spanish beneficial
Necessary Skills:
Basic computer skills including data entry.
Ability to utilize team concepts in providing public health services
Ability to greet and converse with a variety of client personalities and cultures
Ability to promote learning in a variety of settings with a variety of students.
Ability to keep records accurately, and make charts, reports, observations, and understand reports and data
Public speaking skills.
Basic knowledge of organization, content and goals of the public health program.
Ability to write clear and concise reports, correspondence and procedures.
Problem solving skills in a variety of situations.
Working knowledge of community resources available.
Maintains client and department confidentiality
Physical Demand:
Must be able to lift or move 25 pounds occasionally.
Repetitive motions using the hands
Tolerate noisy environment
