This position performs advanced training work and oversees various trainings for the Infant Feeding Branch. Work involves overseeing the planning and development of trainings relating to a variety of WIC infant feeding topics, and evaluating those sessions and the outcomes of the training as it relates to program goals and objectives. Performs highly complex (senior-level) consultative and technical assistance work related to the Texas WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program. Plans, develops, implements, and monitors the program at state level, providing training, guidance, and technical assistance to WIC local agencies to implement the program statewide. Provides consultative and technical assistance to WIC program staff, health professionals, hospital staff, community organizations and other agencies in developing and working with peer counselor programs. May train and/or coordinate the work of others. Work is performed under general supervision of a Manager IV in the Infant Feeding Branch with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
