Public Health Nutrition Program Director

Provides Leadership and Manages the FDOH-St. Johns County Health Department WIC program and ensures it operates in compliance with State and Federal standards, policies, and guidelines.  Ensure correct procedures are utilized for determining eligibility for the WIC program.    Ensure correct issuance of WIC food instruments.   Monitors program for compliance.  Establishes local agency policies and procedures. Schedules workflow.  Manages employees to ensure efficient use of time and resources.  Ensures appropriate techniques, procedures and materials are utilized.  Ensures security of WIC food instruments and WIC special formula.  Ensure WIC services are delivered in a child friendly, family centered, culturally competent manner. The Program Director will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance evaluations, initiating Smart Expectations, planning, and directing their work, approving leave and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. Communicates with employees on a regular basis and uses team building skills to motivate and guide the team to improved performance.  Supervise, direct, and evaluate the performance of staff working in WIC. Recruit, hire, and train WIC staff.
