Public Health Nutrition Program Director with the Leon County WIC & Nutrition Program. Employee works under infrequent supervision from the Program Administrator. Having specialized knowledge of the WIC program in Florida, this is a highly responsible position providing administrative oversight for the Women, Infant and Children Program (WIC) Program in the Leon County Area, known as Agency 37, covering six counties and eight clinics. Position requires independent planning of procedure and methods to attain definite objective outcomes. Using judgement, initiative, advance knowledge of program, business practices and skill in applying instructions to accomplish various job functions. This individual will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning, and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. Supervises employees by assigning work, reviewing progress, and assessing performance. Evaluates staff through establishment of performance standards. Meets regularly with staff to ensure standards are met. Makes recommendations for hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, discharging, rewarding, disciplining, and assigning duties to subordinate staff. Plans work schedules, deadlines, and time utilization of subordinate staff. Provides breastfeeding promotion, support, and counseling to prenatal and postpartum women.
