Public Health Nutritionist

The Public Health Nutritionist (WIC Program) supports the planning, coordination, and delivery of nutrition services for the District’s WIC population. Assists in the preparation and implementation of the nutrition education component of the WIC Program by providing guidance materials and developing tools to facilitate client education etc. Interprets and transmits current scientific information regarding food, nutrition, diet and health as it relates to target population to professionals, agencies and program participants. Plans, arranges, conducts and evaluates nutritional educational programs for professionals, paraprofessionals and program participants.
Key responsibilities include interpreting and communicating current scientific information on food, nutrition, diet, and health to professionals and participants; planning and evaluating nutrition education programs; procuring and developing educational materials; and contributing to research design, data analysis, and reporting on nutrition trends and program outcomes. The role also supports monitoring of nutrition education and certification procedures, assists with quality improvement initiatives, and explores the use of technology to enhance nutrition assessment, data analysis, and program efficiency.
