Public Health Nutritionist III – Supervisor

The Vermont Department of Health has a dynamic opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced public health professional who wants to make a difference in the health of communities in beautiful central Vermont. We are seeking a well-organized and energetic Nutritionist with great communication and supervision skills to complete our public health team in the Barre District Office. 


We seek a passionate individual to join our leadership team as the Nutritionist III. You will oversee local implementation of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition and education program and supervise this WIC team.  This WIC supervisor position supports staff while also maintaining program administration and quality in accordance with federal and state guidelines, as well as provide direct services to WIC-participating families in our clinics. The Nutritionist III will maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of community partners, our WIC Central Office team, healthcare partners, and Agency of Human Services staff.  


Major responsibilities include:
•    Provide overall administration, management, quality assurance, and systems improvement of nutrition services at the district office level 
•    Provide leadership, supervision, and support to the WIC team
•    Provide direct nutrition services to WIC families via clinical appointments, both virtual and in-person
•    Conduct community nutrition needs assessments and develop subsequent interventions and resource development plans with a focus on equity
•    Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with a variety of community partners and stakeholders


This position also works with a multi-disciplinary public health team on emergency preparedness.  Duties are performed under the supervision of the Public Health Services District Director. The Nutritionist III is an instrumental part of a collaborative, supportive management team.
