Job Overview: The position is responsible for statewide planning and nutrition education for the Women, Infant & Children’s (WIC) Program.  This position provides consultation and technical assistance to local programs and providers to ensure local programs comply with applicable regulations.  The position also facilitates achievement of program goals and objectives; coordinates and provides training, continuing education, and related functions to support ongoing program operations and activities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and implement nutrition goals and objectives by facilitating or participating in short and long term planning.
  • Develop nutrition policies and procedures for program operation of nutritional standards and related program oversight functions.
  • Evaluate local program operations, documentation, protocols and related activities to prepare reports, compliance recommendations, and guidance for improvements in local nutritional services.
  • Develop quality assurance standards and nutrition protocols for the program.
  • Develop and write policy, administrative rules and rationale as guided by supervisor to address statewide nutrition issues, food and public health trends and partnership opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulation, policies and guidelines.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of program through the analysis of assessment and program evaluation data.
  • Coordinate and assist local agencies in meeting federal requirements and nutrition/health standards.
  • Conduct training to ensure state and local partners understand new and changing policies.
  • Identify training needs of local program staff and program participants.
  • This position performs a variety of other duties as assigned by supervisors.  This includes participating in meetings and conferences, attending ongoing training and professional development activities, responding to health-related emergencies, and other duties as assigned.
