Senior Public Health Nutritionist

This is part time work planning, developing, implementing, conducting and/or evaluating food service or nutrition programs to assist in the promotion of health and control of disease. Provide public health and clinical nutrition or food services, counsel individuals, or conduct nutrition research. The incumbent will assist with the certification of WIC clients, provision of nutrition counseling and education, distribution of WIC food instruments, and preparation of routine reports. Performs nutrition assessments, WIC certifications and provides nutrition and breastfeeding counseling and education.  Provides technical assistance for Maternity, School Health, and other Health Department programs as needed. Develops, implements, and evaluates plans for the provision of nutrition services in coordination with other Health Department activities.  Prepares reports related to nutrition program activities. Informs the public, medical community, and social service agencies about WIC services.  Cooperates with county-level civic, educational, and governmental agencies interested in nutrition.  Keeps abreast of community resources having the potential to benefit clients. Attends meetings and seminars related to WIC Program. Develops, documents, and implements nutrition care plans based on assessments of nutrition needs and other current health plans, and provides follow up and referral as needed. Provides WIC nutrition assessments and counseling to clients on normal and therapeutic diets. Provides 2nd nutrition education contacts for all clients in the family record and high risk/medical. Assist with outreach activities, health fairs and other community activities as needed.
