Senior Public Health Nutritionist

Florida Department of Health WIC Program (Orange Park/Fleming Island, FL)

Conduct client nutrition goal setting and provide nutrition counseling to WIC participants using VENA competency. Monitor and follow protocols for nutrition assessment and follow up for high risk/medically high-risk WIC participants. Develop, monitor, evaluate and revise nutrition care plans for individual clients at nutritional risk. Document services in FL WISE System using SOAP charting method. Discuss client’s progress with other professionals.  Provide referral and coordinate services to other health care and social service programs such as the FDOH programs, including immunizations, primary care, Healthy Start, etc. Assess anthropometric and dietary data to determine client’s eligibility for the WIC program in accordance with policies of the State WIC program and regulations stated in DHM-150-24. Supervise Nutrition Educator and Public Health Nutritionist positions, ensuring staff meet program expectations in a timely and accurate manner (i.e. management, training and oversight of Nutrition Educator and Public Health Nutritionist which includes interviews, certification of clients, and food issuance within the guidelines of federal and state regulations). Review and monitor records on each staff supervised monthly and report the results to Public Health Nutrition Program Director. Supervise the preparation of reports and verify accuracy of data to ensure compliance.
