Have you been waiting for a leadership position where you work to directly help Utah Women, Infants and Children? Well this position with the Utah Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) may be just what you are looking for. The Nutrition Coordinator (NC) is accountable for all nutrition components of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program.  The NC will audit all local WIC agencies, provide expertise related to local agency nutrition education plans (NEP) that are required by every local agency annually.  You will ensure the WIC Product Guide is analyzed and updated regularly.  You will be counted upon to interact with the UDHHS leadership, all local health department leadership including health officers, nursing directors, WIC directors and other executive and worker level staff to ensure that clear communication, goals and objectives are identified and accounted for. This position will be highly visible and will attend local WIC Director meetings every other month in locations all across the state as well as facilitate monthly conference calls with all local WIC Directors, local Team Leads, local Breastfeeding Coordinators and other staff as assigned.

 Our ideal candidate will have: 

  • Have at least a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree, from an accredited four-year institution, with emphasis in food and nutrition, community nutrition, public health nutrition, nutrition education, human nutrition, nutrition science or equivalent and have at least three years of responsible experience as a nutritionist in education, social service, maternal and child health, public health nutrition, or dietetics.
  • Possess the Registered Dietitian (RD, RDN) credential and be registered or eligible for registration with the American Dietetic Association of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Have at least three years of nutrition and dietetics experience.  


 The following experience or skills may be of benefit to you, but the absence of them will not, in any way, exclude you from consideration. The hiring manager may identify additional related skills and requirements as preferences in making hiring and promotion decisions.

  • Experience with interpreting federal policy
  • Experience writing policy and procedure documents
  • Experience training large groups of people 
  • Registry with the Utah Department of Professional Licensing (DOPL) as a currently Certified/Licensed Dietitian in good standing
  • Master's Degree in nutrition or related field
  • Possess the International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant Credential
