The Public Health WIC Nutrition Coordinator is employed by the Nebraska Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS) in the Division of Public Health, Lifespan Health Unit, and coordinates the nutrition services and support components of the Nebraska WIC Program.
Examples of work: Coordinates the nutrition services components of the Nebraska WIC Program, working closely with program contractors, state and local WIC staff, regional WIC work groups, task forces, and USDA. Applies innovative ideas and best practices to develop, manage and evaluate the nutrition services offered by the WIC Program. Collaborates with the WIC Breastfeeding and Outreach Coordinator coordinating WIC nutrition and breastfeeding services. Collaborates with WIC Training and Communications Coordinator on training center enhancements and evaluation of training as needed; participates in state planning, evaluation and monitoring of WIC services and program operations. Interprets federal regulations; develop and maintain state policies, procedures and guidelines on nutrition services; and develop the state nutrition services plan. Provides technical support on nutrition services components of the Journey computer system to state and local WIC staff. Identifies, develops and provides nutrition services training for local agency staff. Identifies, develops and maintains nutrition education resources and materials. Coordinates nutrition services with other internal DHHS programs and external program partners. Provides technical assistance, consultation and support to local agencies on nutrition services.
