This is a supervisory, professional principal work whereby incumbents perform a variety of assignments in the areas of nutrition and breastfeeding. Incumbents may supervise but must lead subordinate positions. The complexity of major community development work assignments require the use of independent judgment, action, and initiative. Subject to extensive public contact, incumbents conduct a wide range of activities to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal codes. Work is performed under the general supervision of a higher-level position. Work performance is evaluated through conferences, completed reports, and overall contribution to the assigned program. The incumbent is a responsible community health professional, with a background in nutrition, who performs a variety of social services among client populations. The incumbent supervises subordinates and works independently and in cooperation with the WIC Program Chief to fulfill the administrative and nutritional goals of the program.
