About the Conference


The National WIC Association (NWA) invites you to attend our 27th Annual Washington Leadership Conference scheduled from Sunday, February 26th through Tuesday, February 28th, 2017.

Access to this Conference is limited to the capacity of the main venue's general session meeting room, which is currently set at 220. Registration will close when this number is reached.

The conference will provide a forum to discuss Federal initiatives affecting the health and nutritional well-being of WIC mothers and young children as well as service delivery and the effective management of the Program.

We invite you to help NWA ensure policymakers at all levels of government appreciate the real value of WIC.

Regular Registration Rates - Before January 27, 2017
Regular Member Rate: $350
Regular Non-Member Rate: $450

Late Registration Rates - After January 27, 2017
Late Member Rate: $400
Late Non-Member Rate: $500

NOTE: On-site registration = Late Rate + a $75 Processing Fee
All payments are due before or on the first day of the Conference. Payments must be received to gain access to and participate in all conference activities and sessions.

POs will not be accepted on-site.


How to Register

We encourage you to register online. You must have a profile to register online. See instructions on creating a profile and logging in.

Registrants using a Purchase Order (PO) or check, must select the "Bill Me" option from the online registration system when registering.

CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY

It is our policy to assess a processing fee for all cancelled registrations. To cancel your registration, a written request MUST be received by NWA to registration@nwica.org or faxed to 202-387-5281 no later than close of Business on January 27, 2017.

Cancellations received before or on January 27, 2017 will be refunded, less a $75 processing fee. No refund will be granted for cancellations received after January 27, 2017. NWA regrets that refunds will not be granted for "No-shows."

Hotel & Transportation


Conference Hosting Hotel

The Westin Georgetown is sold out at this time.

The overflow hotel will be the Hilton Garden Inn Washington, DC/Georgetown. The rate is $195/night.
Attendees can call in and make reservations by phone at 202-524-7809 and reference the NWA Leadership Conference or online. The cut-off date for the room block rate is Friday, February 3, 2017 at 5:00 pm EST.


Hotel Reservations

You can make your hotel room reservations online or by calling 1-800-228-3000. Identify yourself as a NWA 27th Washington Leadership Conference attendee to receive the negotiated conference rate. The cut-off date for the room block rate is Wednesday, January, 18, 2017 at 5:00 pm EST.

  • The negotiated conference hotel room rate is the Federal Per Diem currently set at $229.00 single/double per night, plus a nightly room tax of 14.5%. Please note that this Per Diem rate may change after October 1, 2016.
  • This rate only applies to Saturday, February 25 thru. Tuesday, February 28th, 2017. Attendees making room reservations outside these dates, may have to pay the hotel's prevailing room rates. Note that the average nightly room rate may be over $300.00.

Please note that NWA does not have any control over the hotel room types. To request a particular room type, you must discuss this with their reservations department when making your room reservations.


Transportation Information

The Westin Georgetown Hotel is located 5.45 miles from the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, an approximate 9 minute ride, by taxi or shuttle. Also, Metro is accessible from the airport. Take the BLUE LINE heading towards Largo Town Center. Your stop will be the sixth stop at the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro Station.

WIC Social Hour

You’re invited to the WIC Social Hour at Tony and Joe’s Seafood Place, 3000 K St NW, Washington, DC 20007, on Monday, February 27th from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m., in conjunction with the 2017 NWA Washington Leadership Conference. Join the National WIC Association and members of the WIC Community for an opportunity to mix and mingle with good company, make valuable connections, and learn something new. During the evening, the NWA will host a networking bingo to build and strengthen connections in our community. Prizes will be awarded at the end of the event to the conference participants who have collected the most signatures. Tony and Joe’s will be offering specials on food and drinks throughout the event.  Special include: sautéed calamari with spicy tomato sauce $8, grilled pimento cheeseburger $7, chili bowl $8, garlic shrimp tapas $15, fried clam basket $14, buffalo wings $14 and buffalo chicken sliders $8; and $4 for house wine/beer & rail drinks.
