This position supports the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) mission and strategic plan by advancing the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities. As an employee of the Business Support Section, the incumbent manages a team that provides technical contract oversight and assistance to local agencies and facility oversight and maintenance of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program property.
The incumbent work under the general direction of the Assistant Division Chief, Operations, Staff Services Manager III (SSM III). The Staff Services Manager II (Supervisory) (SSM II (Sup)) plan, organize, direct and supervise the work of a multidisciplinary team of professional, technical, and support staff of the Business Support Section (BSS). Provide direction supervision to two SSM I and indirect supervision to eight professional staff and one Office Technician. The manager actively participates as member of the WIC Division management team. The position provides input and guidance pertaining to the administrative and business services functions necessary to support the WIC Division. This includes the oversight of WIC’s business services functions which include procurement, facilities management of WIC headquarters, equipment control for both WIC Division and contractors, and internal operations support. In addition, the incumbent provides leadership and consultation for procurement services in developing and implementing contracts, interagency agreements, service orders and purchase orders with various external parties.
