Senior Manager, Research and Innovation

The National WIC Association (NWA), located in Washington, DC, seeks a full-time Senior Manager, Research and Innovation to join its diverse team of fourteen dedicated professionals.

NWA is a high-impact non-profit, member organization that represents more than 2,000 service provider agencies that offer quality nutrition education, breastfeeding support, health care and other social referral services to at-risk women and young children in over 10,000 WIC clinics nationwide.  

Now more than ever, innovations in WIC are necessary to enhance the WIC participant experience and support access to the program.  The Senior Manager, Research and Innovation will be responsible for driving a portfolio of work that includes developing programs and resources that support NWA members to build capacity for innovation and stay abreast of new research, specifically this includes:

  • Leading the development of NWA’s strategy for driving innovation in WIC on the local, state and federal level.
  • Tracking and communicating new research and promising practices in WIC innovation through established and new channels.
  • Collaborating with other team members to align portfolio with current advocacy needs, policy positions, and communications strategies.
  • Developing strong collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ensuring equity, diversity and inclusion are considered in the development of innovations in WIC.

 To qualify, the applicant will have:                                                                                                     

  • A Masters’ of Science or Arts degree.
  • Five plus years of experience working in research, public policy, community programs, or communications related to public health/food access.
  • Experience in driving and growing a portfolio of mission-driven work.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and manage work effectively, independently and collectively. Strong written/verbal communications skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
