GENERAL DEFINITION: This position is responsible for the comprehensive management of the WIC Program and Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program including both state and local level functions.
Supervisory responsibilities include recruitment, hiring, training and oversight of professional and non-professional staff who provide a food prescription, nutrition/health assessment, counseling, education and referrals of clients to other health professionals in compliance with Federal Regulations and Chickasaw Nation policies. Responsible for development and implementation of policies and procedures; interpreting and implementing federal regulations; soliciting and securing grant funding for program operations and special projects; implementing and maintaining budget and cost control procedures; ensuring compliance with WIC Vendor regulations. A high degree of professional responsibility is expected in program planning, oversight of direct client services, and in training of paraprofessional staff, mentoring of other professional staff and technical consultations with participants and WIC staff. Also provides guidance and decision making in the leadership of further Nutrition Services programs including, but not limited to United States Department of Agriculture Food & Nutrition Services funded programs: the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), the SNAP Nutrition Education Program, the Summer Feeding and At-Risk Nutrition Feeding Program, Farmer’s Market Programs and Food and Nutrition services at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center including Medical and Nutrition therapy services as well as periodic special grant projects. Professional competency skills required for professional practice must be maintained.
