The incumbent works under the direction of the Chief, Vendor Monitoring Section, Staff Services Manager II (SSM II). The Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), manages the Field Monitoring Unit (FMU) operations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations related to WIC authorized vendors statewide and exercises professionalism and tact when interacting with staff, WIC authorized vendors, local agencies, and the public. The incumbent supervises analytical staff to manage the FMU operations while personally performing most difficult or sensitive work. The SSM I maintains knowledge related to WIC program abuse, monitoring, and reporting. And communicates effectively (verbally and in writing) with staff, local agencies, the public, control agencies, and law enforcement. The manager actively participates as member of the WIC Division management team. The incumbent may travel up to 25% statewide, with possible overnight stay(s), to accompany staff on compliance monitoring.
This position is primarily a remote centered position (telework), with an occasional need to report to the office, in Natomas/Sacramento, based on business need.
