The NDTR provides nutrition services to participants of the WIC program.
Nutrition services include assessment of nutrition and health for eligibility, obtain anthropometric and hemoglobin measurements interpret results, provide one on one and group nutrition education and counseling, develop nutrition care plans for participant with medium risk codes, refers participants to other health, and social programs as needed, promotes and supports breastfeeding, and documents in the MIS system, SCWIC.
Completes WIC certifications. Assesses and documents a participant’s nutrition risks, prescribes food packages, provides nutrition education including breastfeeding promotion and support that is responsive to the identified needs and/or interests of each participant, identifies the need for individual care plans, refers participants to other health and social service and provides appropriate follow-up to referrals. Ensures that screening and referrals for lead testing and immunizations are performed.
Provides Individualized Care Plan follow up for participants with medium risk codes.
Provides additional follow up for participants with high-risk codes as assigned by the Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.
Provides group nutrition education classes to WIC participants as scheduled.
Provides breastfeeding promotion and support to pregnant and breastfeeding participants.
Screens all pregnant and breastfeeding participants and refers to the appropriate level of care.Issues and monitors breastfeeding supplies.
Participants in staff development activities.
Other duties as assigned
