This is a restricted position, which is solely funded by the Federal WIC grant for a period ending September 30, 2023. The availability of funding is scheduled for review annually and periodically thereafter. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant or non-general funds.

What you’ll do: The Nutritionist Supervisor Senior supervises and evaluates Nutrition staff in clinics and coordinates all WIC and other nutritional program components for both the Alleghany and Roanoke City Health Districts. This position supervises all nutritional programs and supporting staff for both Districts, featuring intermediate term program issues. Characteristic activities include overall responsibility for planning, implementing and providing of nutrition services including areas of Women’s, Infants & Children (WIC), Maternal Child Health, General Medical, Family Plannng, Baby Care, and Adolescent Health. This position is responsible for writing WIC grant(s) and the WIC Service Plan; program planning, monitoring, and analysis carried out by conducting the self Local Agency Management Evaluations (LAME) reviews, along with ultimate responsibility for follow up, documentation, and corrective action. In addition, is responsible for performing technical training and programmatic assistance, developing satellite clinics, providing outreach to physicians’ office, human services agencies, hospitals and other related entities. Supervision responsibilities include that for professional and support employees within the nutritionist programs through observation of work activities, consultation, statistical data and work reviews. The position may provide nutritional assessment and education to clients, and other related administrative tasks. The candidate may be asked to travel between the other WIC offices to perform duties as needed, or to provide coverage.
