THIS POSTING WILL BE USED FOR ON-GOING RECRUITMENT AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNITL FILLED.
This job plans, develops and implements breastfeeding promotion and support policies and procedures, as well as coordinates breastfeeding services for the New Mexico Department of Health's Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Breastfeeding Program. It also manages the Breastfeeding Peer Counselor annual grants and associated contracts to implement this program statewide, assures federal regulatory compliance and performs related work for the Department of Health and with community partners as required.
Key responsibilities include managing the WIC Breastfeeding Promotion Program, managing the WIC Program's community-based breastfeeding promotion and support projects, managing staff lactation-related training and development, and managing the WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Program.
Customers include approximately WIC staff statewide, Breastfeeding Peer Counselors, pregnant women, breastfeeding women and breastfed infants who participate in the New Mexico WIC Program each month.
International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Credentials; WIC Program experience
Bachelor's Degree in any field of study from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of professional level experience operating within parameters and guidelines directly related to the purpose of the position defined by the agency at the time of recruitment. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Executive Order 2021-066 requires all employees with the State of New Mexico to provide either proof of COVID-19 vaccination (including proof of a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster dose) or proof of a COVID-19 viral test every week.
The Public Health Order (on Vaccination) dated December 2, 2021, requires Congregate Care Facility Workers and Hospital Workers to have received a primary series of vaccination by October 6, 2021, and a booster dose of vaccine by January 17, 2022, or within four weeks of becoming eligible for a booster.

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Extensive statewide travel with the occasional overnight stay may be required.
